C.O. $95

DEAR (REGP 15 APR OC)

ATTORNEY GENERAL'S CHAMBERS.

Hongkong,

2nd March, 1909.

Report on Ordinance No. 1 of 1909

I have examined the accompanying Ordinance, entitled

221

An Ordinance further to amend The Magistrates Ordinance 1890 and to effect certain other amendments in the Criminal Law

I am of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to the Governor's Instructions

This Ordinance will effect certain amendments in the Magistrates Ordinance 1890 and in the Criminal Law of the Colony:

Section 3. This amendment empowers a Magistrate to order imprisonment in default of finding security for good behaviour. The power already exists in section 50 of the same Ordinance in the case of a person failing to enter into a recognizance with sureties to keep the peace.
